Maker Profile: Parking lot yacht

Parking lot yacht

A small three wheeled land sailor that is rear steered and so sails like a small boat. Using easily to find hardware store parts. Can be towed like a small trailer with a mast that is under the road requirements. Speeds that can be up to three times the wind speed. The frame forms a cage that can not be rolled over and helps to protect the pilot. The small sail teaches you to use and control the wind. And it is about the most fun you can have!

9/13 Meeting & Sunday Project

Maker and Volunteer Badges!

We are holding a Badge party this weekend:

WHEN: This Sunday, 10:00AM                                                                                                   WHERE: We will be meeting at Quelab                                                              WHAT: Create Badges! We are creating badges for All Makers and Volunteers out of the sealing lids for wide mouth canning jars.

You can decorate your own badge and Make a few more. All Makers and Volunteers are invited to join!

Badges will have our main logo to cut and put in place and then we will have all kinds of glitter and assorted odd items to glue into place. We will be using regular glues and hot glues as well. Then our volunteer Betsy will pour resin over the badges and drill the holes for the lanyards and we will have our hand made New Mexico style badges! We will need to put labels on the back to add the maker’s name for their own badge.

Please fill out our Maker-In-Training Questionnaire if you haven’t already and get on the Volunteer list!

Maker Profile: 100 Acts of Sewing

100 Acts of Sewing

The goal of Sonya Philip’s “100 Acts of Sewing” project is to make 100 dresses in a year and along the way, get people to think about how clothes are made, while showing them it isn’t difficult to sew their own. Come see the dresses on display at the Albuquerque Mini-Maker Faire and watch as Sonya works on the latest ones.

Each dress is documented as it is made, noting the materials used and who the dress was made for, you can see the progress at the project’s website www.100actsofsewing.com
