Albuquerque Maker Faire on “The Morning Brew” (a second time!)
What’s Being Said About the Maker Movement:
“The Maker Movement is also touted as a boon to education because of the science, technology, engineering and math components necessary for many inventions.” -Entrepreneur Magazine
“…the gathering of folks from all walks of life who blend science, technology, craft and art to make things both goofy and grand.” -New York Times
“If you teach people to do things through science and technology, they do,” Savage said. “And kids find it most exciting of all.” -Adam Savage in an interview with PBS News Hour Extra
The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo, CA and in 2013 celebrated its eighth annual show with some 900 makers and 120,000 people in attendance. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagship event, has grown in three years to 500+ makers and 55,000 attendees. Detroit, Kansas City, Newcastle (UK), Rome, and Tokyo are the home of “featured” 2013 Maker Faires (200+ makers), and community-driven, independently organized Mini Maker Faires are now being produced around the United States and the world—including this very New Mexico-styled Albuquerque Mini Maker Faire.
