School of Dreams Academy Robotics Program
ABQ Maker Faire is excited to have The School of Dreams Academy Robotics team show an assortment of the robots built at SODA. The School of Dreams Academy Robotics team won 4th place in the B.E.S.T. robotics competition in 2010 which qualified them for the National finals. The team placed 23 in the National finals!
The Mission of the School of Dreams Academy is to prepare students of Valencia County to become confident, self-sustaining individuals with an enthusiasm for continual learning, as well as a passion for life. Students will be afforded the opportunity to excel in the core subject areas through a rigorous curriculum with emphasis on the arts, technology, character development, and community service learning, giving them the skills necessary for success in post-secondary education and career choices. Each student will come to school daily, knowing that they are cared for and that the school supports them and their families in pursuit of their goals.

The Good Life Lab: Radical Experiments in Hands on Living
by Wendy Jehanara Tremayne
Wendy presents the material in her new book, The Good Life Lab, which contains the inspirational story of how they ditched their careers in New York City to move to rural New Mexico, where they made, built, invented, foraged, and grew all they needed to live self-sufficiently. Alongside their personal story they present the discovery of a fulfilling lifestyle that relies less on money. They teach the art living from waste and from nature and teach how to make biofuel, DIY appliances for automating the homestead, build structures, gardens, and grow and forage food, and medicine. They present reasons for makers to share their innovations and ideas through open source and creative commons licenses.
Wendy will be speaking and selling her book, The Good Life Lab: Radical Experiments in Hands-On Living at Albuquerque Mini-Maker Faire this August.

Wow, the Makers are just rolling in and we want to take the time to introduce you to all of them, so here it goes…
Little Red Riding Wolf cosplay by KBD
From chain mail to felt and clay Knight Blue Designs knows how to create full costumes and articles for any Comic Con, LARP (Live Action Role Playing), or event…
“We create custom costumes, set design and propmaking. Sewing a costume or building a prop depends on budget, detail, deadline, and the materials and capabilities available in our creation lair. Creating costumes and props exactly from the artwork of a 2D or 3D cartoon can be intricate and takes time to bring it to reality. Almost everything we create was created custom for each specific client.”
